    How it feels

    Four moments
    you'll want again.

Making records is a feeling game. Here is what a session with I AM CHOIR is built to give you.

    01 · First listen

    The goosebumps

Your solo vocal opens up into a full room of real singers, still singing your words.

    02 · The drop

    The lift

The last chorus finally hits a level up. The part you always heard in your head is right there.

    03 · Playback

    The room sings back

Ten Gospel voices, eleven kids, twelve shouters. Real people you can credit on the record.

    04 · After

    It's all yours

Buy once and keep it. No credits, no tokens, nothing running out mid-session.

    02 / The difference

    Choir libraries give you vowels.
I AM CHOIR sings your song.

    Words

    It sings your lyrics

Your words, your melody, your phrasing. Not an "ahh" pad you have to bend around the track.

    Timing

    It lands on your grid

The performance follows the timing of your vocal, so it drops straight onto the track.

    Private

    It stays on your machine

Audio processing happens locally. Your sessions never leave your computer.

    Yours

    It's yours for good

Buy once, own it forever. No subscriptions. No tokens. No credits to run out of.

    03 / Workflow

    Three moves.
    Straight to your timeline.

06 / How it was made

    Made with singers.
    Not instead of them.

Every voice in I AM CHOIR was contributed knowingly and with consent. The singers were paid for their work, and they share in the success of the tool through a royalty.

Nothing replaces humans singing together in a room. This is an expansion of what's possible: a gospel lift, a kids' choir hook or a terrace-sized gang vocal, for producers who couldn't book one before.

    The system 6 steps
    1. Bounce the lead vocal for the final chorus only. Keep it dry and under 45 seconds.
    2. Generate the main Gospel choir with harmonies off and drag it in.
    3. Set Key and Scale to match the song (check major vs minor), then add Octave Down and generate again.
    4. Add one harmony, Third Above, and audition it against the track before adding more.
    5. Drag each part out as its own stem so the main choir, octave and harmony each get their own fader.
    6. Tuck the choir a few dB under the lead, then automate it up as the chorus peaks.

    2. Process the dry lead through I AM CHOIR with layers off.
    3. For a wider stereo choir, record a second real take of the same part and process it too, or use two takes as a stereo input (one take per channel).
    4. Pan the two choir outputs left and right in your DAW.
    5. Blend a little of the original dry vocal back in for clarity.
    6. Bring back only the doubles you still miss. Most of the time you need fewer.

    Octave Down for weight
    The system 6 steps
    1. Leave your existing stack alone. Bounce only the dry lead line of the hook.
    2. Generate the main choir plus Octave Down.
    3. Drag the parts out as separate stems and put them on a bus under your stack.
    4. High-pass the choir bus so it adds power above your low end, not mud.
    5. Lower or mute Octave Up if the hook already sits high. It can dominate a high vocal.
    6. Add reverb to taste, then A/B the hook with and without the bus.

    The system 6 steps
    1. Record several separate shouted takes of the part. One voice per take.
    2. Process each take through Shout on its own.
    3. Compare C24 for a cleaner crowd against U67 for more grit on the same take.
    4. Drag every output in and spread them across the stereo field.
    5. Nudge a few takes a few milliseconds early or late so it feels like a real crowd.
    6. Glue the bus with gentle compression and a short room reverb.

    2. Record or bounce a clean, dry take of just that line.
    3. Generate with harmonies off and check the pronunciation of every word.

23 answers from the official I AM CHOIR support guide. More in the resources hub or at [email protected].

Looking for workflows? Open the creator playbook
How does I AM CHOIR work?

It turns a recorded solo vocal into a choir performance. Import your audio, choose a choir and microphone, generate the vocals, then drag the result back into your DAW. It works from a recorded vocal file, not from MIDI notes or typed lyrics.

What is the best first test?

Activate your license in iLok License Manager, open your DAW, and import a short dry solo vocal under 45 seconds with Browse Files. Choose Gospel and U67 for a sung line, or Shout for a shouted part. Leave harmonies off, click Create Vocals, then drag the result onto an audio track.

    Which choir should I choose?

Gospel is the starting point for melodic singing and fuller chorus parts. Kids suits higher melodies and a brighter texture. Shout is built for gang vocals and chants. For Gospel or Kids start with U67. For Shout compare C24 for a cleaner sound with U67 for more grit.

Which systems and formats are supported?

macOS 12 or later, in VST3, AU and AAX. Windows is in development, and you can sign up for the beta to test it early.

I can't find the plugin in my DAW.

Search for I AM CHOIR or the manufacturer AM I AUDIO. In Logic, look under AU Instruments on a Software Instrument track. In Pro Tools, check Other in the insert menu. Then confirm the license is active, restart the DAW and rescan plugins.

Is my audio uploaded for processing?

No. Choir processing happens locally on your computer. Internet is only needed for license activation and the one-time model download during setup.

    Put a choir
    on the chorus.

Go make the part everyone sings back.
