# Size without the phasing

**I AM CHOIR workflow · Stacks**

**Use it when:** You keep stacking doubles and the vocal gets cloudy instead of bigger.

## The win

> "I AM CHOIR gives me size without the phasing and cloudiness you get from artificial doubling and stacking. I've never had a plugin that could do this."
>
> Mike Plotnikoff, Producer, mixer, engineer · Aerosmith, Van Halen, Kelly Clarkson

## Settings to start with

| Choir | Mic | Layers |
|---|---|---|
| Gospel or Kids | U67 | Main choir first, octaves optional |

## The system

1. Mute your artificial doubles and stereo wideners on the section you want bigger.
2. Process the dry lead through I AM CHOIR with layers off.
3. For a wider stereo choir, record a second real take of the same part and process it too, or use two takes as a stereo input (one take per channel).
4. Pan the two choir outputs left and right in your DAW.
5. Blend a little of the original dry vocal back in for clarity.
6. Bring back only the doubles you still miss. Most of the time you need fewer.

## You nailed it if

- The section feels wider and fuller with less smear in the low mids.
- Mono playback still sounds solid.

## Skip this

- Putting different harmony lines or a backing mix on the two stereo channels.
- Processing an already-stacked bounce. One voice in at a time.
