# Thicken the final chorus

**I AM CHOIR workflow · Chorus**

**Use it when:** The last chorus needs to feel bigger than the first one without just turning it up.

## The win

> "I AM CHOIR has quickly become one of my favorite ways to add life and thicken up choruses."
>
> Zakk Cervini, Producer, mixer · Blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon, Yungblud

## Settings to start with

| Choir | Mic | Layers |
|---|---|---|
| Gospel | U67 (then compare others) | Octave Down, then one harmony |

## The system

1. Bounce the lead vocal for the final chorus only. Keep it dry and under 45 seconds.
2. Generate the main Gospel choir with harmonies off and drag it in.
3. Set Key and Scale to match the song (check major vs minor), then add Octave Down and generate again.
4. Add one harmony, Third Above, and audition it against the track before adding more.
5. Drag each part out as its own stem so the main choir, octave and harmony each get their own fader.
6. Tuck the choir a few dB under the lead, then automate it up as the chorus peaks.

## You nailed it if

- The lead still reads first. The choir is felt more than heard.
- Each layer is on its own track.

## Skip this

- Turning on every layer at once. Add them one at a time.
- Leaving Key and Scale on the wrong setting, which pulls harmonies off.
